Land Rover has updated its popular Defender offroader with a generous dose of luxury and brought oodles of rear passenger comfort to the extended 130 model line-up. Of course, no true update goes without adding more power, and here, the new D350 diesel engine replaces the D300 with 50 more horsepower.
However, we must return to the very long and spacious 130 as the range-topping V8 gets a pair of heated/cooled captain chairs with individual armrests and cupholders. Here, the Defender 130 has a whiff of Range Rover luxury that’s only added to its increased off-road ability
Elsewhere, there’s also a new ‘Signature interior pack’, which is available across the Defender X and V8 as a standard whole (optional on HSE). Here, you get 14-way electrically controlled front seats with heating, cooling, and memory functions and new ‘winged’ headrests. In the second row, you get climate seats with winged headrests on Defender 110 and 130 models. Those in the third row of Defender 110 and 130 will find their seats are now heated, too.

Other changes with this interior pack include Windsor Leather and Karat seats being available in Ebony or Caraway/Ebony, along with a new Ultra fabrics option available in the Light Cloud/Lunar colourway.
Land Rover has also unveiled the 110 Sedona edition inspired by Arizona, with its deep red paint job (available for one year) being the highlight here, along with contrasting blackened elements, including 22-inch gloss black wheels plus a body-coloured wheel cover. Buyers can also deck up their Defender with an optional decal with the topography of Sedona along with other off-road inspired fripperies like an optional Sedona Red exterior side-mounted gear carrier, and gloss black side steps and wheel arch protectors.
Lastly, JLR has simplified the Defender range and removed clutter with easy-to-understand packs which include off-road, advanced off-road and air suspension. There are also cold climate and towing packs (90 and 110 only) plus three interior packs along with customised choices for even the third-row seating for the 110 and 130.
Prices start from $92,402 plus on-roads for the Defender 90 S D250 and reach a hefty $217,282 for the 130 V8 P500 (full price list below). First deliveries will start in September this year, and these changes broaden the Defender line-up further to target different buyers.
